Hi,
I tend to change fork oil every 2-3 riding seasons so the interval is maybe 15 to 25 k miles. I notice the difference with fresh fork oil but if the fork felt the same I'm not sure whether I'd bother to change. Try if you notice any difference.
Dexron and other ATF fluids are not perfect fork oils. I've been told their viscosity is not really consistent and there are slight differences between brands, even batches of same brand. Proper fork oil is maybe 2- 3 times the price and they claim to have additives to help the seals last longer. If the seals don't leak, I wouldn't replace them. Mine lasted 20k miles.
It might be good idea to flush sediment out of the forks. Gasoline might damage the seals so I use some diesel. If you want to replace the seals you need to dismantle the forks and then you can clean the internals much better.
Good luck!
